Managing Social Services

Compiled Objectives for all 3 sessions
1. all the children would be able to recognize impulsive behaviour.
2. at least 80% of the children know the right thing to do when they feel impulsive.
3. at least 80% of the children can identify two situations where they may feel impulsive.
4. at least 80% of the children will be able to recognise two feelings of stress.
5. can identify two situations where they may feel stressed
6. can identify one benefit of relieving stress.
7. at least 90% of the children can recognise at least two ways to manage stress.
8. all of the children will be able to identify two situations where they can use different stress management techniques.
9. at least 80% of the children will feel less stress.
All the objectives were appropriate except “at least 80% of the children will feel less stress”. Despite it being specific, measurable and relevant, it is not time based. For instance, the child may not be at any stress at that moment. The evaluation methods to measure the objectives were through the emotion cards and sometimes by the raise of hands or asking them to share. Since we teach the children to associate negative emotions such as unhappiness, anger and envy, with stress, the emotion cards are deemed appropriate for the evaluation of our objectives. For objectives where they were asked to identify, children were tasked to share their experiences and facilitators will judge whether they were able to identify. I believe the evaluation methods to measure objectives were appropriate.

Moving on to the budget, large amount of money was spent on materials for the Happy Board Activity. Materials for the Happy Board Activity were expensive and there were a lot of materials. We decided to spend it anyways because this was one of our main activity that will teach the children about stress management. The Happy Board will be there to remind the children to be happy every time they see it. It helps them to cope with stress and that is one of our main purpose.
